CASA Kane County Information Session – November 9

Enjoy working with children and youth?  Want to make a difference in the life of a child who has been abused and neglected?  CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Kane County is a nonprofit organization providing support and advocacy for children who have been the victims of abuse and/or neglect.

CASA Kane County and Bethlehem are sponsoring an information session from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, November 9, at the Kane County Courthouse in Geneva for those who would like to learn more about CASA. This is a powerful way to live as disciples, speaking for and standing up for vulnerable children in our community. Whether you are interested in volunteering, or would just like to learn more about this special agency, join us!

Questions?  Contact current CASA volunteers and Bethlehem members, Craig Collins (630.442.9203) or Bill/Sandy Leitsch or Barb/Bill Herman.

Please sign up below if you can attend the information session.

Feed My Starving Children ~ November 11
Nov 11 @ 8:45 am – 11:15 am

Join Bethlehem disciples and other friends from8:45 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, for a fun and rewarding time of packing food for malnourished children around the world. Feed My Starving Children isn’t a food bank where you’re sorting food donations and repacking them for distribution. Instead, FMSC invites volunteers to pack their scientifically developed food formulas that are specifically designed to help starving and malnourished children recover and put them on a road to improved health and development.

This is a wonderful family activity for everyone age 8 and above (everyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult). You’ll be part of a fun assembly-line process in an energy-packed, music-filled room with 150 like-minded people who want to do their small part to help others.

The session starts at 9:00am so please be at the site no later than 8:45 to connect with the group and receive orientation information.

If you have questions, feel free to contact Dennis Finney at dennisrfinney@aol.com.

Progressive Dinner hosts needed – sign up now!
Dec 9 @ 5:30 pm – 10:00 pm

Hosts sought for annual Progressive Dinner

One of the long-standing highlights of the holiday season is the Bethlehem Progressive Dinner. Diners visit four homes during this evening of dining fun and conversation- the perfect combination of large and small groups. This year the Progressive Dinner is scheduled for December 9.
Registration of hosts is now open and will continue through October. We need:
  • 6 more  hosts for soup and salad
  • 6 more hosts for the entrée
  • 2 more hosts for dessert

Soup/Salad and entrée hosts are given specific recipes to make for their course. Meat and wine is provided for the entrée hosts. Participants are asked to provide either an appetizer or dessert to one of the hosting homes to supplement what the host has provided.

Once hosts are in place, we will start registering others who wish to participate. The cost for each participant is $15.
If you’ve never participated before, put this event on your calendar. It’s a wonderful way to connect with a lot of people in one night!
