Welcome to Bethlehem Lutheran Church

Empowered by the Holy Spirit, our mission is to INVITE all people to become disciples of Jesus Christ, NURTURE each other's faith, and GO into the world to live for God.

Welcome & Connection

Invitation to Bethlehem

Wherever you are on your faith journey, you are welcome here.

Whether new to Christianity, new to the Lutheran faith, a long time believer going deeper in understanding, or somewhere in between, you will find others here to journey with you as a disciple of Christ.

At Bethlehem, we strive to create and sustain a community that is accepting, genuine, challenging, committed to growth as followers of Christ. We value the relationships we have both within this congregation and in the wider community.

We invite you to take the next step in your faith journey. Join a small discussion or Bible learning group, attend a class or weekend retreat, participate as a worship assistant, enjoy a fellowship event, get involved in an outreach, care or teaching ministry. Lots of opportunities for learning, serving, growing and leading are available here at Bethlehem.

We are anxious to get to know you better. We’d like to know your yearnings and passions so that we might best nurture you in your faith journey and equip you to serve others.

Attending our next Newcomer Class is a great way to get better acquainted. These class are held several times year.

Whatever next step you would like to take, assistance is available. Please contact Kelly Collins, Director of Care and Connection for more information, or 630.584.2199 x 232.

How to Join the Bethlehem Family

Your journey begins by attending a session of Newcomer Class, which is held 4–5 times per year. Each session usually consists of 4 consecutive classes, scheduled after the last worship service on Sunday. The atmosphere is casual, includes lunch and childcare (infants through elementary school) is provided during Newcomer Class. Children in middle school or older are invited to participate in the adult sessions. Newcomer Class sessions are publicized in our monthly newsletter, on our website, and frequently in our weekly Community Life worship bulletin.

Pastor Mark Larson leads the Newcomer Class sessions with the support of other Bethlehem disciples who are active in ministry here. As a group we review the basics of our Lutheran identity, share how we live out our faith through mission and ministry at Bethlehem and help folks discern if this is the place they would like to live out their spiritual journey. It really is a great introduction to the Bethlehem church family, a great way to meet other individuals and families who are new here and a great way for us to get to know you!

Once a session is completed all participants are invited to be received into discipleship at Bethlehem during a worship service. This service is planned in advance, so that most people can arrange their schedules to participate as a group. After the service, we invite the congregation to informally meet and greet those who are joining our church family.
