Mission & Vision
Empowered by the Holy Spirit, our mission is to:
Invite all people to become disciples of Jesus Christ
Nurture each other’s faith, and
Go, into the world to live for God.
We, at Bethlehem
Are Invited by God’s grace for the sake of the world, and we are a new creation through God’s living Word by the power of the Holy Spirit;
We are Nurtured by God’s grace for the sake of the world, we will live among God’s faithful people, hear God’s Word, and share Christ’s supper;
We will Go into the world by God’s grace for the sake of the world, we will proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed, serve all people following the example of our Lord Jesus, and strive for justice and peace in all the world.
Each year we ask Bethlehem disciples (members) to sign a discipleship covenant. This is a pledge to agree to the following items.
Having experienced the gracious invitation of God’s love, and having been welcomed into the body of Christ through the sacrament of Holy Baptism, I commit myself to growing in my personal discipleship, following the example of our Lord Jesus Christ, through the ministry of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Asking God, and my fellow disciples, to help me, I will use the following goals to guide my growth:
I will join our mission to INVITE all people to become disciples of Jesus Christ by:
Actively and warmly welcoming all persons into the life of the church
Inviting at least one family to join in worship with me each year
Treating all people with respect and love
Praying for our pastors, staff, and leaders
I will NURTURE my faith by:
Faithfully attending worship
Developing a regular prayer life
Studying God’s Word through regular, personal bible study and by attending at least one class each year
Discovering and developing my gifts and talents for ministry
Building an accountable relationship with at least one other disciple for mutual support and encouragement
I will GO into the world to live for God by:
Committing to grow in my financial giving to God’s work
Serving in at least one church ministry or activity each year
Actively serving the needy in at least one mission project each year
Living my life, following the example of Jesus,
in the church, in my family, in the workplace, and in the world.
