Welcome to Bethlehem Lutheran Church

Empowered by the Holy Spirit, our mission is to INVITE all people to become disciples of Jesus Christ, NURTURE each other's faith, and GO into the world to live for God.

Local Outreach Ministries

Bethel/Bethel New Life

In recent years we have supported Bethel Lutheran Church (Christmas Giving) and Bethel New Life (Christmas Sharing) on the west side of Chicago. It is our goal to revitalize and strengthen this relationship/ministry. Representatives from Bethel Church and Bethel New Life recently visited Bethlehem and a focus team of Bethlehem members has visited Bethel on the west side of Chicago. The goal is to develop a plan whereby “together” we can rejoice in this renewed partnership. If you are interested in becoming part of this ministry team please contact Dori Collins,  Louise Ioder or Leigh Gunther.

St. Andrews Lutheran Church

We have recently supported St. Andrew in their ministry with the people in the area whose primary language is Spanish (Christmas Giving). We will be meeting with St. Andrew in May to look at ways we can build our relationship. We are looking for new members to grow this ministry and ask for your continued support. If you have interest in this ministry please contact Paul Hough & Ingrid Nelson.

Green Team

2007 saw the birth of a group of volunteers hoping to promote ecological awareness and stewardship of the earth within our congregation. The goals of this team are:

  • celebrating God’s creation
  • educating others and ourselves about earth-friendly practices and behaviors
  • taking actions to restore and protect the environment and all living things

The Green Team sells Fair Trade coffee and tea on the first Sunday of each month in the Fireside Lounge. If you have interest in this ministry please contact Maggie Haroldson.

Heartland Blood Bank

Blood Drives are offered six times a year in cooperation with the Heartland Blood Bank and partnering congregations, Hosanna! Lutheran and Rejoice Lutheran. Bethlehem has participated in this appeal for many years. The next blood drive will be at Bethlehem on June 20th. We are searching for someone to help him coordinate this ministry. Please contact Mark Ring.
