Empowered by the Holy Spirit, our mission is to INVITE all people to become disciples of Jesus Christ, NURTURE each other's faith, and GO into the world to live for God.
I hope that you were able to relax and enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday. As the Director here, I am truly grateful and thankful for so many people: the wonderful Teachers, the great Pastors, Miss Mary (our cook), Mr. Randy (our custodial manager), and most of all, the children and their families. All of you make this a special and wonderful place!
Our children in the All-Day Preschool enjoyed another delicious Thanksgiving Feast a couple weeks ago. Thank you to Miss Mary for coming in at 4:00 am to put four turkeys in the oven and to cook all the wonderful food. Thank you to the parents for attending and providing such great side dishes. It was a very special meal with all of our children, teachers, parents and church staff.
To those who contributed to our Thanksgiving Food Drive, we offer thanks for your support! The Preschool gathered over five very full boxes of food for the Salvation Army food pantry. That was added to the amount collected by the church and went a long way towards assisting families in need.
We will have another way for you to help families less fortunate than we are. Starting this week, in the hallway outside my office, there will be a “Mitten Tree”. You and your child may select a paper cut-out of a hat, scarf, gloves, or mittens and replace them with the “real thing”. On December 19th, I will gather and deliver them to Hesed House just before Christmas. Imagine how many people will be warmer because of your generosity. We want to thank you in advance.
Brrrr….Now that the weather is getting colder, it is important to send your child with appropriate outerwear. If there is snow on the ground, each child will need to have snow boots and snow pants to be able to play in the snow (along with mittens/gloves and a hat). We go outside daily except during rain, or when the temperature drops below 10 degrees with the wind chill. Half-Day Preschool goes out for at least 10-30 minutes each session and the All-Day Preschool goes out for at least 30 minutes to 45 minutes in the morning and in the afternoon. Play is more fun when they are dressed warm and cozy for it.
December promises to be a wonderful month here at our Preschool. All the children have been busy working on new songs and crafts for the next Holiday—Christmas! We hope you will be able to attend the Christmas celebration that each classroom will be having. Information should be coming home with your child very soon regarding the celebrations. What a great opportunity for fellowship with other parents, to chat with your child’s classmates and listen to wonderful music. Preschool is a marvelous place to be to experience the wonder of the Christmas Season! It is a pleasure to be around children for the celebration of the birth of the Christ Child. Young children remind us of the true joy of the season. May each of you enjoy this Blessed time with family and friends.
I hope that you will mark your calendar for a few important dates coming up in January. Starting Monday, January 13th, we will be registering currently enrolled Half-Day Preschool children for the school year
2014-2015. It is necessary to go through the registration enrollment to secure a spot for next year. Forms will be passed out the week before, and accepted starting January 13th. To secure your spot, you will be required to attach a non-refundable re-enrollment fee of $60.00 per child with your form.
On the week of January 20th, we will open our Half-Day Preschool registration to church members, alumni and younger siblings. Families interested in registering their children may “call-in” (630-584-6027) or stop by the office that week to pick up the registration forms and pay a $75.00 registration fee per child. Registration will be open to the public beginning Monday, February 3rd. Please pass the word to friends and neighbors! We are now accepting tours. Remember, we do have a referral incentive program here. If you refer a family and they enrolled their child, you will receive a voucher good for $100 off your child’s tuition! (Child must be enrolled for at least one month before voucher can be redeemed). If you have any questions regarding registration, please let me know.
Please note that our Half-Day Preschool will be CLOSED from December 23rd until January 3rd. Classes will resume on Monday & Tuesday of January 6th & 7th. Our All-Day Preschool will be closed on December 24th, 25th, 31st and January 1st.
Bethlehem Preschool is also CLOSED on January 20th for Martin Luther King’s Birthday, and on January 30th & 31st for Half-Day Preschool ONLY due to conferences (classes not in session). All-Day Preschool conferences will be held the week of January 28th-31st (classes will remain open for the All-Day Preschool children). Please look for a sign-up sheet outside your child’s classroom door.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
PARKING LOT PARKING REMINDER:
With the arrival of winter’s snow and ice, we would greatly appreciate it if our upper parking lot right outside the preschool entrance can be reserved for expecting mothers or mothers with infant carriers, grandparents, families dropping children off in the All-Day Preschool program, or those adults with difficulty walking up and down steps. If you are a healthy mom, dad or adult with just one or two preschoolers who are fine with crossing the parking lot, please park on the lower lot next to the playground, and encourage the children to use the handrails. We want everyone here to be safe.
If any parents need assistance with dropping their child off in class, or bringing them out to the car due to illnesses, sleeping infants, etc. please call me at least 10 minutes before drop off or pick up time, and I will do my best to help bring them in or out to your car (or watch your car for you while you come in). For the safety of children, please do not leave your child/ren unattended in the car. If you have any question, please let me know.
