Summer Newsletter 2010

 

Dear Families in the All-Day Child Care,

We are looking forward to a summer filled with fun indoor and plenty of outdoor activities. For the past few weeks, the teachers have been planning some wonderful trips/events for this summer. The children will get to play in the sprinklers on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  Often we will be able to move many of our classroom activities outside as well. These activities will start Monday, June 14th.

For the summer months your child will need to bring a swimsuit and towel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  If possible, we would appreciate it if you could also provide a pair of rubber soled water shoes, or sandals that can get wet when they are outside. This allows the children to go from sprinklers to bikes without the burden of putting on and taking off shoes. This will also help keep their feet protected at all times. Please remember that playground shoes should stay on their feet at all times. If children wear flip flops to school, they will need to have playground shoes to change into in order for them to be able to use the climbing equipment.  As always, your child should continue to bring an extra set of clothing. Thank you for your cooperation!

Our enrollment is low enough for us to run just one classroom for the summer. However, children ages 5 and older will be separated at naptime from 12:30-3:00 into their own classroom. Miss Anne will be the teacher in that classroom.  It is important that children attending part-time child care stay with their schedule because there are no extra teachers available if you drop in without informing the teachers or the Director first.  Please ask ahead of time so that we can check our attendance. On field trip or special days, you may switch days or add on a day for an additional fee to attend the events. Please let us know ahead of time.

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES & FIELD TRIPS. 

Mark your calendar!

Thur, June 10th           Pottawatomie Park & Pizza Lunch: The children will walk to the Park in the morning to play on their playground, enjoy a snack and walk back for a Pizza Lunch at school. Please drop your child off at school by 8:45 am.

Thur, June 17th      Family Cook Out: Bring your blankets and join the Preschool on the playground from 5:30 pm-7:00 pm for some fun, food and fellowship with other families and teachers. Food and beverages will be provided by the Preschool. An RSVP sheet is necessary.

Thur, July 8th             PJ & Movie Day (Time: TBA) Children may arrive to school in their pajamas!  They will get to make their own snack and watch a movie on the big screen.

Tue, July 13th            Randall Oaks Bus FieldTrip (8:45-12:30pm): We will visit their petting zoo, play on the playground and enjoy a picnic lunch there. Parent chaperones are welcome!

Thu, July 22nd           Field Day at Preschool: We hope to turn our outdoor play area into a classroom on this day!  Children will get to do art, have group time, paint, play in the sprinklers, and ride bikes. What fun!

July 26th-30th           Rainforest Adventure (a.k.a VBS) hosted by the Church 8:45-11:45 am. Our (5-6’s) children will join the church this week during their “Rainforest  Adventures”. Children will get to listen to stories, sing songs, participate in art, crafts and explore the “Rainforest” as they learn to disciples of God. 

Tue, August 3rd         Ice-Cream Social from 3:00-3:30 pm. Parents are welcomed!

Closed one week for Teacher Work Week

Recap of items each child should have by Monday, June 14th.

Towel (please label)

Water shoes/shoes that can get wet (please label)

Bathing suit/swim trunks (please label)

Change of clothes (switch to summer clothing)

Sunscreen & bug spray if you are providing your own.

Summer Activity/Field Trip Fee: $15.00/child in cash to your child’s teachers (this fee covers the Brookfield Zoo admission and bus fees, as well as special treats for the children during the Special Days at school).
