Dear Parents,

Happy spring to you!  It’s amazing how quickly the school year is moving along!  It’s great to finally be able to take advantage of some nice weather for a change!  It opens a whole new “learning center” this time of year.  I am sure that many classes will start to go on walks to the forest preserve to look for signs of spring.

The Preschool Ministry Team, the staff, and I would like to thank everyone for their support of our Spaghetti/Silent Auction/Raffle Night.  The delicious variety of desserts many of you donated added much to the meal.  To each of you who donated desserts, pastas, sauce, bought tickets, helped set up, clean up, worked in the kitchen, helped with the children’s activities, donated to the raffle/auction, or made cash donations we extend our heartfelt thanks!  Including the $800 matching fund from Thrivent for Lutherans Association, we earned over $7,500 for our Scholarship Fund!  The 50/50 raffle money will go toward our Equipment Fund.  Thank you so much for all your support and involvement with the preschool.  Our fundraiser is a success because of your support.

In our classrooms, it is “busy-ness” as usual!  I was able to meet many grandparents during Grandparent’s Week.  It’s always nice to see how children interact with grandparents.  For the most part, our children here have exceptional manners!  Remember that visitors are always welcome.  If you have an “out of town” grandma or grandpa, they are certainly welcome anytime they are in town.

Half-Day Preschool Extended Days: Next month, our children in the half-day preschool will again be able to extend their days here a little longer for a small fee.  The extended days that will be offered are from April 21st to the 24th.  Parents can extend  two days that week from 2.5 hours to 4.5 hours.  Registration form is attached for children in the Half-Day Preschool programs.

Final schedule for our Summer “Camps” will also be available soon. 

We will be offering a one week long themed camps Monday to Friday from 9:00-12:00, and Thursday from 9:00-12:30 pm to allow extra time for lunch and a field trip. The cost for each camp is $80.00/child (snacks and lunch included).  Miss Janeen will be teaching the summer camps. The first 10 children to enroll for each camp will be guaranteed the spots.  Any additional registrations will be on a wait list until we have 5 more enrolled.  If we add more children to each session, we will hire another teacher to assist Miss Janeen.  Please be on the look out for our Summer Camps schedules and registration form.

The staff in the All-Day Preschool is already working on some special activities for our All-Day summer programs.  Within the next two week families will receive a form on which to indicate your child’s program needs for both summer and fall.  This will allow us to determine our staffing needs and allow teachers to have some time off to spend with their family.  It is especially important that children attending part-time stick to their schedule unless arrangement with the director is made ahead of time.  Children who will leave for the summer, but will return in the fall must include a $60.00 re-enrollment fee with their forms to reserve his/her spot.

SPOTS ARE STILL AVAILABLE for some of our half-day programs.  If you know someone who is interested in  the program, please encourage him or her to call us for more information.  For each family you referred and they enroll, you will receive a voucher good for “$100.00”  to be applied toward your child’s tuition.  Since fall, six vouchers were given and redeemed.  Thank you so much for your kind “word-of-mouth” referrals!

SPRING “PICTURE PEOPLE” PORTRAITS:  Since we have many new children enrolled since late fall, we have decided to give parents another opportunity to have their child’s portrait taken.  The Picture People will be here on April 16th and 17th to take your child’s individual as well as the class group picture during class time.  The Picture People will donate back 10% of their net profit to the preschool! The Picture People expect to have photos back for viewing within 3 days from the photo shoot day and final photos within 7 days...just in time for Mother’s Day!  Please mark your calendar and look for more information from the Picture People to go home with your child.

GOOD FRIDAY, March 21st: Our Preschool will close this Friday for Good Friday.

Spring Break Week reminder: Half-Day Preschool will close the week of March 24th to the 28th for Spring Break.  All-Day Preschool will remain open.  If you are traveling, please have a safe and fun trip!  Bring back lots of sunshine!
