Meals
All-day child care Meals
Breakfast: We strongly encourage our families to share breakfast at home together, prior to coming to school. If it is absolutely necessary, a breakfast is available at 7:30 a.m. Parents must let the teachers know in advance. Parents may pay cash of $1.50 to the teacher or they may charge it to their accounts. A breakfast menu is posted in the classroom, and any changes to the menu are noted on them. Bringing food from home is not permitted. Children will not be permitted to finish eating food from home in the classroom.
Lunch: The children are served a nutritious lunch every day by 11:45 a.m. Menus are posted in the classrooms and any changes to the menu are noted on them. If your child arrives at school past the lunchtime, please make sure your child has already been fed. Parents are welcome to join us for lunch anytime. When possible, please let the staff know in advance so the kitchen manager can plan accordingly. Due to the Health Department regulations, children are not allowed to bring their own food to school.
Snacks: The preschool provides two nutritious snacks a day with a cup of 100% juice or milk. Occasionally, the children will participate in a cooking activity where they make their own snack.
Preschool Class Meals
SNACKS: The children are served a snack each day along with a cup of 100% juice or milk. Each week we ask a family to provide a nutritious snack for the class. You will receive a list of suggested snacks from your child’s teachers.
Birthday Celebrations
Each classroom has the discretion to establish guidelines for birthday celebrations. Please watch for information regarding this special time from the teachers. Sorry, but DCFS regulations require that food brought from home must arrive unopened as packaged by the bakery or manufacturer.
School Closings
Half-day classes at Bethlehem Preschool Center will be closed whenever the St. Charles School District #303 announces weather related closings. The closings will be announced on WGN (AM 720) and all major TV networks. The closing will also be listed under “Bethlehem Preschool Center-St. Charles” at www.emergencyclosings.com.
Full-day classes may be canceled due to weather as well. We will make every effort to remain open, but school will be closed if the director deems conditions unsafe for staff and/or children. Closings will be announced on WGN (AM 720) and all major TV network channels. We will be referred to as Bethlehem Preschool Center-St. Charles.
