Sermon- IBMTA: What Do You Need?- Pastor Sarah Rohde

October 24, 2021 In a podcast that I listened to this week, Philip Yancy, an author that writes a lot about spirituality and grace. He recalled visiting his brother in the hospital, after his brother had a stroke. His brother was comatose.  You could clap your hands in front of his eyes and he wouldn’t blink. The doctor would hit his knee with a reflex hammer and he wouldn’t even move. So there he lay, just staring straight ahead, all day long. Philip said it was hard to believe that he was really alive. Philip was allowed to visit his brother for five minutes every two hours. Philip and his brother had a fraught relationships, so it was hard for Philip to know what to feel, or know what to say.  But at the end of his five minutes, he would lean in and whisper into his brother’s ear.  And he would say, God is not the judgmental person we learned about growing up. God is full of grace.

Sermon- IBMTA: Where Does It Hurt?- Pastor Sarah Rohde

October 10, 2021 Pete Rollins is a phenomenal storyteller and theologian. The tells the story of a Buddhist parable where a young woman loses her beautiful baby girl.  In this woman’s immense grief, she wraps the child’s body in linen, then she wraps the child’s body to her own. She goes in search of someone, anyone, who can resuscitate her child.   She goes to faith healers and witch doctors. She talks to the tribal elders, but no one can help. Finally one of the elders says “it is rumored that high up in the mountains, away from everyone, there is a holy man that is so close to the divine, that he can even raise the dead.

Sermon – IBMTA:Where Are You From? Part 2 ~ Deacon Heather Feltman

October 2, 2021 As we have mentioned the last couple of weeks, it is our hope through this sermon series to make room for intentional conversation in our life together as community, so we might grow in relationship with one another. It is our hope that the questions posed in this series will guide us in learning each other’s stories.

Sermon – IBMTA: Where Are You From?- Pastor Paisley Le Roy

September 26, 2021 This week we dive into our series, “I’ve been meaning to ask…” with the seemingly simple question, “where are you from?” As Pastor Sarah mentioned last week, it is our hope to make room for these questions in our life together as community so that we can grow in relationship with one another. It is our hope that the questions here will guide us in learning the stories of those sitting around you right now. And so I’m going to give us just a minute here to turn to someone around you, not a family member or someone you can with and, even better, someone you haven’t spoken to and share with them where you’re from and have them do likewise.
