Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School
July 22-25, 9:00 am–12:00 noon
Bethlehem Lutheran Church

As summer quickly approaches, we are thrilled to invite you and your little ones to embark on a nostalgic journey at Vacation Bible School 2024. This year, we’re diving into the heart of our faith with the theme Hometown Nazareth: Where Jesus Was a Kid. Some of you may remember this VBS theme as Marketplace, where the kids get to visit different stalls to complete various “Bible times” activities such as carpentry, bead making and gardening.

Transport your children back in time to the streets where Jesus took His first steps, played with friends, and grew in wisdom. Hometown Nazareth promises an immersive experience, filled with joy, laughter, and valuable lessons!

Vacation Bible School for children ages three through fifth grade, will be held Monday–Thursday, July 22-25, from 9:00 am–12:00 noon.

Registration Details:

  • Cost: $40 per child
  • Sibling Discount: Sibling discount for each additional child
  • Scholarships: Full, half, and part scholarships available

To bring Nazareth to life and create our Marketplace, we’ll need a lot of teen and adult volunteers across many different areas, both prior to VBS week and during. Please consider volunteering for VBS so we can make this an immersive experience for our kids. Volunteers can be as young as 6th grade in Fall 2024. For a complete list of volunteer roles we need to fill, please click here.

We can’t wait to grow in faith in Hometown Nazareth: Where Jesus was a Kid!

Easter Baskets for LSSI

Easter Baskets for LSSI

Easter Baskets for Lutheran Social Services of Illinois
Through March 12
Collection in the Welcome Center

The gift of an Easter Basket to a foster child in care lets them know they are not forgotten! BLC’s goal is 163 Easter Baskets! LSSI has many foster children this year, so we would love to help make their Easter!

We have tags with the children’s names and ages on a tree near the sanctuary. Please select a tag, fill baskets with toys, books and candy and cover the baskets with a clear basket wrap. There is a special emphasis this year on children two years old and younger with 40 kids in this age group. They need different items for their Easter baskets, so please consider that in your choices.

Easter Baskets can be dropped off at in the Welcome Center through March 12.

We can also make a basket for you! Send a check with LSSI Easter on the memo line or click here to order from our Amazon Wish List. Items will ship directly to Bethlehem and we will assemble the baskets.

BLC’s Shipping Address: 1145 N. 5th Ave, St. Charles, IL 60174

In addition to the Easter baskets, we will be collecting gift cards to local restaurants. When a child(ren) has been removed from their home, LSSI sometimes does not have an immediate foster family placement for them—hence, they end up staying for a short time at LSSI offices. The gift cards will be used to allow LSSI staff to purchase meals for these children. These can be in any amount and to locations such as Panera, Chipotle, Potbelly, Visa, or Mastercard, etc. Gift cards can be placed in Deacon Heather’s mailbox.
