Sermon – Our Eyes Were Opened- Pastor Paisley Le Roy

July 4, 2021 Now, as we’ve been returning back into our building with more and more regularity, I’ve been getting a lot of comments saying, was that always there.  Now, granted, I’m not really the best person to ask because I’m not quite sure what was and was not always here.  But many of them have always been, and if they haven’t always been, they’ve been there quite a good chunk of time.  There’s the cross out front that John illumines with different lights, depending on the season, that I don’t think was quite noticeable until all of those lights in its place.  And then a couple weeks ago I got a question about the carving on this pulpit.  Has that always been there?

Sermon – The Spirit Is Here- Pastor Paisley Le Roy

June 13, 2021 Do you ever just stop and think “wow, the spirit is here right now!” Have any of you ever had that moment? Raise your hands. Okay, I see a handful and by the end of this, I hope to see more of your hands, because I think that the spirit works in so many different ways that you’ve had one of those moments whether you know if or not.

Sermon – Laying Down Our Lives- Pastor Paisley Le Roy

April 26, 2021 First John is a letter written to a group of believers who are dwindling. Some of their community has left for other routes, following the way of the world instead of the way of God. Some in their community have attempted to lead them astray. It is a letter of encouragement to a community that is trying to do the impossible.  To imitate Christ’s love for one another, not on only in word, but even more importantly in truth and action. I say that they are trying to do the impossible because the love to which God calls us, the laying our lives down sort of love, is not one that comes easily.

Sermon – Palm Sunday 2021 – Pastor Paisley Le Roy

March 28, 2021 Each year on the Passover, people would flock to Jerusalem. It’s said the city’s population would quadruple in size for the holiday. And, with so many people present at once and in light of what Passover commemorates, it was the perfect time for the Roman emperor to remind them of their captivity. So, from the west, the emperor would come each year, flanked by his soldiers and guards, and majestic horses. It was a procession much different than today’s gospel.

Sermon – One Year Into A Pandemic – Pastor Paisley Le Roy

March 14, 2021 Today’s passage is familiar and yet foreign. It has something to say for today’s context. One year into a pandemic and one year into virtual worship. One year from all of those things we named at the start of our worship. One year since our sense of normalcy ended. One year without hugging our families – our grandparents, our grandchildren. One year since children were born that have never been held by anyone besides their parents. One year of taking it day by day. One year.
