Lent 2021

Historically, the season of Lent has been a time of preparation for baptism at the Easter Vigil service. During this time, those awaiting baptism (or affirmation of baptism) would be invited to explore what it means to be a disciple of Christ – a crucified and risen Christ. Continuing in this tradition, we are invited yearly to dive deeper into the heart of our faith, revealed to us through water, through word, and through the gift of bread and wine.

Materials we have sent out to accompany you on the journey are:

1. Ashes for Ash Wednesday service: either use the enclosed at-home liturgy or join us for worship and partake in the imposition of ashes with your church family

2. A wooden cross: Weekly we will gather for Holden Prayer Around the Cross. We’ve included a cross so that we can have a sense of all gathering around the same cross and offering our prayer. Pre-recorded musical offerings of disciples will make up the majority of this service.

We will continue to offer a mix of pre-recorded and live services (Zoom/streamed to YouTube) for Lent. Links
for these services will come by email.
