Take Your Dad/Grandfather Fishing on Father’s Day Weekend
As we emerge from this pandemic, it’s time to enjoy the outdoors and each other by “going fishing” on Father’s Day weekend.
To celebrate Father’s Day, Bethlehem’s Men’s Fellowship is sponsoring a morning of fishing from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm on Saturday, June 19, at the Pratt’s-Wayne Woods Forest Preserve (northeast of the Village of Wayne off of Powis Road). We invite families (this includes children and young adults) to bring their father, grandfather, or any other adult, male family member to enjoy a morning of fishing with other Bethlehem disciples. You can fish for an hour or the whole morning. We will be practicing social distancing throughout the morning and we encourage the wearing of masks.
The Illinois Natural Resources is not requiring the possession of a fishing license on this day, so all you need to bring is your fishing pole and some bait. We will be conducting a fishing contest for everyone who brings a pole. Who will catch the biggest fish? The Illinois Natural Resources has generously donated a number of prizes including fishing outfits and equipment.
Please sign up here if you plan to attend our Father’s Day Weekend fishing event. As we get closer to July 19, additional information about our BLC fishing morning including directions to the Pratt’s-Wayne Woods Forest Preserve will be sent out to those who register.
In order to successfully stage this event, we are also looking for several individuals who would be willing to bait hooks, take pictures of all of the fish we are going to catch, and help with the clean-up. Use the sign-up link for that purpose.
This is a great opportunity for the kids to bond with dad, grandpa, or another male family member and make some great memories!
