Adult Music Opportunities
Bethlehem enjoys a diverse and active music program. Our music program is one of our core strengths, and we invite all who are interested to find an ensemble that brings them joy. Psalm 100 tells us to “make a joyful noise unto the Lord”. It doesn’t say a “perfect” or “flawless” noise, it says “joyful”. We encourage all Bethlehem disciples to join an ensemble so we can make a JOYFUL noise together!
Bethlehem’s Senior Choir frequently participates at the traditional worship services in the Sanctuary. This adult ensemble (high school +) rehearses at 7:00pm on Wednesday nights in the choir loft and we are always looking for new singers. Please join us at any time – this is NOT an auditioned group.
Bethlehem’s Praise Team leads our 8:30am “contemporary” worship service each Sunday morning. The Praise team consists of singers, instrumentalists and audio/video technicians. They typically rehearse on Thursday evenings as well as before worship on Sunday mornings. If you’re a strong singer, have experience playing drums, guitar, bass, keyboard, or other instruments in a contemporary worship setting, or if you’ve worked a sound board or PC during presentations, you should contact to learn more about joining this ensemble.
Sounds of Joy Handbells
This ensemble is led by Michelle Fisher and participates in Bethlehem’s traditional worship approximately once each month, as well as special and festival services. “Sounds of Joy” is blessed with bells and chimes that cover a 4+ octave range, allowing them to explore a wide variety of music. Contact Michelle Fisher if you’d like to learn more.
Bethlehem “pulls out all the stops” on special seasonal occasions and invites anyone who is interested to join a choir. Christmas and Lent/Easter are good examples of times when special music is celebrated in the form of masterworks like an oratorio or requiem, or it may just be a time when we invite all of our ensembles to share their talents with the congregation. Be on the lookout for these special music invitations, and please join in.
