Baptism at Bethlehem
Baptism joins us to the body of Christ and to the mission we share as followers of Jesus. At Bethlehem, we always celebrate baptism within the context of worship, and we set aside specific weekends so that we can focus our worship services around baptism and explore more deeply the meaning it carries throughout our whole lives of faith. We tend to baptize infants and children, but baptism can be celebrated at all ages and stages of life.
Current baptism adaptations due to the COVID-19 Pandemic:
We continue to celebrate baptisms during this time, but we have made the following changes:
- We will celebrate baptisms outdoors on the church’s front lawn, for as long as is possible into Fall 2020. For outdoor baptisms, we will allow 25 people to be present and we ask all in attendance to wear a mask. Immediate families can stand close together. Other guests are expected to practice physical distancing.
- As the weather changes, we will allow indoor baptism services in our sanctuary, which would also be limited to 25 people or less. These services would require pre-registration for all guests, physical distancing, the wearing of masks, and a simplified liturgy.
Our next baptism celebration date is: Sunday, Sept. 20.
We will plan for these baptisms to be outdoors. Slots are open for baptisms at 11:00am, 11:45am, 1:00pm and 1:45pm. Please contact our Office Administrator, Allie Hofsommer – firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up for a baptism
